The child should have been Registered in the normal way...however it would depend on where and when as to what actually did happen....! In truth not an easy question to answer... |

How common was the aunts surname, and was she married at the time? |

In general, the birth would have been registered in the birth mother's name, but then the baby would have been re-registered in its adoptive name if he/she was legally adopted. |
