Even if you don't have an Ancestry sub, you can search on Ancestry and, by clicking on the shopping basket, see the ref details of the order Ancestry will place for you. It doesn't give all the details on the GRO index - specifically, it doesn't give mum's maiden surname, spouses's surname, age at death. Also, having Ancestry place the order for you will more than double the cost to you. |

For those who are not aware, FreeBmd automatically adds the wildcard * to the end of whatever you enter under first names. |

The reason you didn't find it was because you probably put the full name in. John F Dunn found it but John Frederick didn't. |
