The tv programme Long Lost family has repeatedly refered to 'specialists in adoption' when looking for people who have been adopted.
Who are these specialists who appear to be able to a reverse look up into files?
My understanding is that only the adoptees can approach the agencies to discover their birth parents, not those looking for long lost siblings
Any advice would be welcome

I wondered that as well.

Maybe they were given a few back handers to find the info :-D

Do they use the expression "special intermediary"

Seems they contact the adopted first before giving any info the the TV company
