can anyone tell me a way to find records of prisoners and their crime i have looked in the newspapers.i have been searching for my grandfather Thomas jessop1877 for a long time i found my father with his family in lincs t without his dad i then found found Thomas in the 1911 census in Wakefield prison but i cant find why he is in prison nor can i find the offense committed if any one has any ideas i would be most grateful |

Ancestry does have this database but not for anything near to 1911 |

Have you looked in local papers? if you were relying on the British Newspaper Archive, the relevant local paper may not yet be included. |
