She was with Frederick James Cain Born 1871 Eton Buckinghamshire
On the 1911 Census she was with Frederick James Cain in Ealing.
I have found no trace of a marriage certificate yet between Frederick and Elizabeth.
She is on my father birth certificate Frederick James Cain born 1904 Ealing.
After the 1911 census I can find no trace of Elizabeth.
My Father only remembers being a orphan.
Any Further Help would be welcome

Supposedly married 9 years, 4 children born, all still living at time of census.

Ah, I see! - there's a glitch with Ancestry -
if I search for Fredrick, either father or son, or for Jim, that record doesn't come up, but it does if I search for other members of the family.

EDIT:
they've been mistranscribed as female on Ancestry - that's why.
The record comes up if I don't specify their sex.

it could be they never married!!


Living common-law was just as common in the 19th century as it is these days!

Especially if one of the parties was already married to someone else, as there was no easy divorce.
