I had one very similar a few months ago

Child listed with grandparents...who unfortunately had 7 daughters, none were married at the time of the birth and 4 were old enough to have had this child.

When the child married she gave her grandfathers name as her father (maybe she was bought up to think grandparents were her parents?)

I ended up purchasing her birth cert, just to find out who the mother was...it turned out not to be the one I suspected...but at least I now know

No it seems Caswell was Laura's maiden name

Thankyou so much on answering my message.

I did see the 1911 Census, that you thankfully sent me, and i see Henry as grandson to the head Laura, a widow to Henry Pond Newby, and together had 11 children, but 3 died by 1911 Census.

What i'm trying to work out, who the parents of Henry Caswell Newby are, i'm starting to wonder if he may be an illegitimate child, what do you think.
