Hi

I have a list of names that I would love to know if there are headstones for and if SKS could take photos for me. Am in Australia otherwise would make the trip myself :-)

Dates range from abt the 1880's to the 1960's.

Names are predominantly - Penlington, McNally, Shevlin, Wilson to name a few.

Let me know if you would like me to post the list here or pm to anyone who may be able to visit.

I checked on the link that Reggie posted but only 9% of the cemtery is listed on-line and none of those on my list were there :-(

My McNally's link into the Penlington's which I am trying to determine if I have the right line of Penlingtons.

Have sent you an e-mail Carol, explaining that the list you have sent to me does not include the Section or grave numbers sorry to say without these it will be a hard job as Ford Cemetery is huge.
So I suggest you ask on here if anyone can get those details, I do not know how to get them on-line sorry.
Will still go down for you and take pictures it's around a 25 mile round trip, lots of kind people have helped me on here so i will return the favour to you.

ps as you have burial dates it should be easier.

The Liverpool catholic cemetery registers 1813-1988 are on ancestry, and give grave numbers - but not sections that I know of.

Carol would need to post up the deaths for anyone to take a look, unless she has an ancestry sub - or someone may know if they are available online elsewhere.

Added - just checked Ford cemetery records seem to start from 1859 on ancestry & run up to 1981

If you think you can find them with just grave ref, get Carol to post up the names and burial dates - I'll take a look tomorrow - or send me the list and I'll fill in what I can find. Attach it to a PM.

I've looked at a couple of burial records for Ford cemetery earlier today for another thread, and just double checked - a lot of them are in communal graves, especially the children. On just one page in 1884 there were around 7 children in one grave along with a couple of unrelated adults.

Someone has just advised me how to find the section and grave nos on Ancestry so will see what I can locate as I have Ancestry sub.

Am interested where you found your burial records as I couldn't see anything on the Ford Cemetery link that Reggie posted above. There was notification that only 9% of Ford had been transcribed online - is that correct?

I have just re-sent my list to Joanie with the Section and Grave nos on. The list is quite lengthy otherwise I would post for all to see.

Luckily for Joanie most turned out to be family plots which will reduce the leg work :-)

The ones I've been looking at are the ancestry records, which appear to be pretty complete - same records you have obviously used.

Quite sad to think of how many are just communal graves, unrelated people buried together, but that was common practice back then - unless the family was rich enough to buy their own plot, and not many were.

Have been to Ford Cemetery will send you the results by e-mail a few pics.

Sad to say most graves did not have headstones and one had some else in it...but some good pics of the others.

My own turned out not good... One a public grave the other had a diffrent family in it...A Gentleman who died at Hillborough one of the ' 96 '....maybe not all records on ancestry are right ? for burials.

I think the records on ancestry are taken from the actual cemetery burial records - you can trawl through hundreds of pages of them in there original state. Maybe sometimes the transcriptions are incorrect, but if you have a burial date it is possible to get to the right record, just by date - even though it takes a little time to get there.

If you are having a problem, and don't have access to ancestry records just send me the details and I'll take a look see if I can find the burial/grave you are looking for.
