funeral director will not give information out to folk. under the data act .... the information can only be given to the person who organised the funeral. this may be next of kin or ? |

Not exactly what you asked but do research old funeral companies. I have relatives who lived in Surrey, there is a firm Frederick Paine located in Kingston upon Thames who have records starting in 1908 plus an interesting museum. On a Tuesday they have a volunteer who will look for any burial records, the old ones all in lovely leather ledgers I have managed to find several ancestors giving height, name of kin, address etc. |

I would suggest you ask. Some old established firms keep long, extensive and detailed records going back many, many years. |

I just wondered whether Funeral Directors were able to release records of funerals that they have carried out, after a certain number of years? I know the answer is probably "no" due to privacy issues, however, certainly in the past local newspapers did print announcements after funerals saying who had attended, etc. |
