I want to know if it's possible to look for who lived in a row of cottages in a particular village in North Yorkshire in every census 1911-1841 as there are ghost stories and I'd like to put names to stories (and photos). Is this possible on genesteunited please? seems to only have a "name search" option.... |

You can search by address in 1881 on FMP and Ancestry. No idea about GR - never use it for research |

The 1911 census on Ancestry is also searchable by address. It is possible to search other censuses on there by address but it is complicated. If it is only a small village, you can page through the images. If it is a larger one, you can look at the Enumeration District descriptions for the street name and then page through the images for the correct ED but it is very time consuming. |

Hello Canaan - is there a basis or particular set of circumstances to these spooky stories? |

Thanks everyone, that's really great advice....the stories are relating to the High Street cottages in the village of Swainby North Yorkshire and I managed to find some 1911 details for the village on here but there aren't any specific addresses really and certainly no house numbers. And just about to finish my free trial on GR so not sure if I will be allowed on here to read or post without a paid subs....so thanks everyone....theghost hunt continues! if anyone wants get in touch again, which would be much appreciated! Happy Christmas to you all..... xx |

Once your free sub runs out, you can read but not post. |

Don't know if this is any good but it has a house number. There are quite a few like this. |
