Hi I want to be able to print out my family tree which is now quite large what is the best family tree software for doing this?
I dont want anything complicated something that when i put the info in lays it out so it looks professional as I want to frame it for the wall
and do other trees for friends as well
what have you ladies and gents out there used?

Which ever programme you use it will be a case of sticking sheets of papers together which is not the best look if you want to frame it

Unless you have access to an industrial sized office printer, its not going to look professional.

Its difficult to advise the best off-line tree programme that you could use if you want to continue down that route. Many people on here have FamilyTreeMaker which includes a sub to Ancestry.

I have FamilyHistorian. Although I haven't attempted to do a full print out, it does have the facility to resize it to fit on fewer pages.

There are many others available, some free, some which will give you a download trial period. Its worth googling availability.

As far as I'm aware, all have the facility to print out a Tree, but as GlitterBaby says, if you are only using an A4 home printer, you'd end up having to stick the pages together.

It depends on how much of your 'tree' you intend printing and framing.

................unless you have a printer which takes A3 paper.

To get a 'professional' job, your best bet would be to employ a professional Company.

I have a printer which prints A3 so thats not a problem I meant to say I would get my wall print done professional but i wanted smaller options for my folder and for my friends..sorry for misleading.... :-)

I find Family Historian great for printing small sections of my family tree, either for myself or to send to other family members.

I have not tried printing full tree - I don't think the result would be very good!

With versions prior to V5, the only adaptation you could do was to 'Avoid page boundaries' which did make any print out rather unwieldy.

Someone who uses FTM (or other tree programmes) would have to advise on their printing layout and adaptation.
