of course you don't want to give the details here, but you could say

year of arrival
year of birth stated

to give people an idea that might help find an answer

and also, whether the person was a woman, because the surname could be her husband's surname

Could they have been adopted or born in another country?

See if the whole family are listed on http://www.naa.gov.au/

From the list on the left, click Family History

Second para – Record Search
Record Search on the next page (again!)
Green tab – Name Search
Input the surname, and from the ‘Select a Category of records’ use the drop down box to ‘Immigration and naturalisation records

You can filter the results using first names of those who travelled.

Which site have you used in your search for a birth?

Are you 100% certain of the person's birth name?

Where was the person allegedly born?

Who were his/her parents?

I cannot give name as the person is possibly still living.
Person in question emmigrated to Australia for which I have found the relevant
record of arrival and I presume their information would be correct from their passports.

I will let the poster know that they have replies to their query. :-)

It would help if you gave name and date of birth as there are many reasons why you cannot find them.

Thank-you and Welcome to the boards.

Where and when,

Plus have you taken the 6 weeks allowed to register a birth which could put them in the following quarter and for late novermber to end of december births can be in the first quarter of the following year and further late registrations into account?

If they were born before 1875 then their birth may not have been registered .there were no penalties till 1875 for non registration

Perhaps they lied about their date of birth or place of birth?

Do you want to give details or is the person still living?

I can find someone in travel records giving D.O.B. Etc but not in birth records. Any suggestions where to look?
