Hello Robert - was she actually married to your great grandfather? If so, when/where did they marry? Who was your great grand father?

When you found her on the 1911 was she still single (could have been a very young bride) - where was she? Where was she born?

If you give us as much as you can on her then we'll have a better chance of helping you.

The person who is of most interest to me at the moment is my great grandmother Catherine Halliday( maiden name was Flannigan, or a variation of this surname). I can find her on the 1911 census, but can't seem to find her anywhere else. She was born in april 1895.

Reggie has provided the link to the LancsOPC. I use that site for my Lancashire research. The 1 Lancashire hit above was for the baptism of Hannah Smith, parents Thomas and Margaret. LancsOPC has 5 hits for the name Hannah Smith, including that one. And it has 228 hits for Smith.

The same search on Ancestry:-
Lancashire – 947 hits which included some deaths where the birth year 1800 was included in the record.
Yorkshire – 422 hits, again with a few deaths.

It probably comes under the 'Births, marriages and deaths' section?

Inky1 Report 27 Jan 2014 16:41

Robert,

There are some Parish Records available to you, but probably not as many as you may have thought.

GR's own statement:-
"Our collection includes both England & Wales birth, marriage and death index for 1837-2006 as well as an extensive collection of Parish records dating back as far as the 16th century."

On another thread today I read the phrase "economical with the truth". I feel that it applies here too.
