As you can tell from the inset map, Mountsorrel Quarry was 300m away over my left shoulder.
I think there was a Hosiery Factory just off frame to the left, level with the red brick house.
Go to http://www.old-maps.co.uk/index.html and input the coords 458200,314700 then try the 1903 map
There is a disconnect between 1871 and 1881 for both Amos's and you really need your Amos's m.cert to see if his dad was Wm or Jos. Jos's son is aged 5/15,
and Wm's is aged 4/13 in 1961/71. Millie's hubby is aged 25/35/45/55, and Eliza's hubby is aged 23/32/43/53 in 1881-1911. My guess is Wm is Eliza's pa-in-law, but I'ld like to see it confirmed.

You are quite right, I will need to see a few certificates to make certain.
I have written to a few people on here, and a couple have been very helpful, but a few have not opened the envelope. Perhaps they are not at home, or are not on Genes any more.
