On the 'old' Ancestry I used to do address searches on the 1881 census. Does anyone know how you do it now please. I have FMP but the street I am looking for comes up as unknown although it is there in other years.

I'm looking for 66 Rann Street, Ladywood, Birmingham.

Thanks for your help. My grandfather, Sidney John Fagan, was born at number 66 in 1875. Kelly's directories have his grandfather John Fagan, customs officer, living there in 1876. I can't find John after that, he was born in Ireland.

Not coming up as you say as Rann Street, Birmingham, but if you just put Birmingham in the details box, you can then work through all the streets until you find Rann Street - page 67 of 79! Only problem when you get there, there doesn't appear to be a 66. However by looking at the image for no 68 RG11 piece 2971 folio 18 page 30 you will see no. 66 at top of page with MAry P Bennett, Cousin age 34 Dressmaker. Then go to previous image ie page 29 and schedule no. 154 is 66 Rann Street. In the home which you can access now by inputting names you will get

Am not convinced by the place of birth for Elizabeth!!

Thanks for that Stuart. I was hoping that John Fagan who was living there in 1876 re Kelly's Directories would still be there as I seem to have lost him!

More to the point the only other reference I have for him is on his son Michael John Fagan, my great grandfather, marriage certificate.

Try putting the Street name in the Key word box - putting in Rann brings all Rann St addresses.

Looks as though John was over here between census!
