does anyone know how I can find/send for a death certificate for an ancestor - great, great grandfather, who may have been lost at sea? Thomas Henry White was born in Mistley, Essex in 1837, and lived there at the time of his wedding to Elizabeth Sarah Lucas (31st May 1865). They had one son, William Henry, who was born on 1st November 1869.
by the time of the 1811 census, Elizabeth Sarah was with William Henry White, in Sunderland, listed as a widow. (the Lucas family were also living in the north east by this time too.)
my cousin & I looked at a lead 2 or 3 years ago which was found in the log of a vessel, The Anne, I think, where on Christmas day, a young mariner called Thomas White had fallen overboard whilst filling/emptying a bucket. I can't find the proof that would link my missing Thomas's death certificate, or any mention elsewhere, with this Thomas on the boat. I have seen the ship's log, at the Maritime museum in Liverpool, but apart from a description by the captain of their efforts to find him, nothing else was there to identify him further. Can anyone help please?

Hi, Shirley, thank you for the info - I have most of that from my research, and yes, I think Elizabeth Sarah White died in april 1878 aged 34! so young!
The ship's log just listed a Thomas White, and I have been told that according to the position of the vessel (Longitude & Latitude were given for the time) they were close to the Azores. I'd just like the proof it was my Thomas before I move on with other research :-)
If you have anything else you think may help, please let me know, and thank you.

The ships log should give some voyage dates which would help
