Even though there were no ER taken during WW2 (1939-1945) her English family might be able to find Clements on the ER in the years from her birth until then.

Thank you for replies looking at trees on here is one option I will try.

We are in Australia so not able to look up electoral rolls but will contact them. I will let her know she may have some family there that could do that for her.

She is not sure of her fathers or grandmothers first name , the only clue she has is the surname and where she was living upto 1945

You could try looking at the Electoral Roll for Cheltenham. The library there should either have them or be able to tell you where they are kept.

Edit:

According to this site:

The Electoral Rolls are here:

Cheltenham Local & Family History Library in Chester Walk off Clarence Street

As your friend doesn't know the man's first name, her chances of finding info are slim...........sorry to say

What was the name of the 'paternal grandmother'?

I am tryIng to find a Clements family for an elderly friend with some medical problems she is trying to find her birth fathers full name to enable her to get a death certificate in the hope it may have some medical information on it she was born 1933 appears no maintenance order but an arrangement with the paternal grandmother, his name was not on the birth certificate her mother never spoke of it so looking for anyone who has a Clements relative who lived in High Street, Cheltenham a long shot I know but am stumped.
