If the information on the certificate isn't 'exactly' the same as you gave, they won't issue the certificate. |

If you are looking to have birth certificate from England or Wales you will need the GRO index information for them to find it. |

If you put in the GRO reference correctly then they will be able to issue a certificate and will charge you for it. |

the birth you want may not have been registered; registering a birth wasn't compulsory in the 1840s. Have you tried looking for a baptism? |

Have you looked at the image for the birth ref? There are two James Hicklings on there with the same page and volume no. |
