hello all Researching some family info for my sister and have found the record for George Leslie Guy CARD on the National Roll of the Great War 1914-1918 on Ancestry but when I click on the link to view the entry the page shows some CARD surnames but not the person I'm looking for - and these are all in Hampshire whereas my George Card is from Bermondsey, London!
I see the following .... but cannot go further to actually read what was said about him but he's not there!
British Army WWI Medal Rolls Index Cards, 1914-1920 - about George L G Card
George L G Card Regiment or Corps: Royal Engineers, 97 Tank Regiment Bn, Royal Engineers Regimental Number: 237816, 34052, 601807
Any kind person out there able to help me - though I know theres a few issues on the Ancestry site at the moment... or am I missing something :-(
Heres hoping :-)

If you do decide to re-post, remember to delete this one
The record you have posted is correct - he has 3 different service numbers because he was in 3 different Regiments/Battalions. Presumably he was swapped around to make up the numbers as required, He was awarded the Victory Medal and British Star.
There is nothing on the image to indicate where he was born or from - there never is. You may not be aware, but over 60% of the WW1 records were destroyed during WW2 bombing.
On an initial search, his seem to be among them

Medal cards are precisely that.....cards which list medals awarded. And nothing else.
His service record is probably among the 70% of all WW1 records which have not survived.

Thank you all for your kind replies. I did wonder what the 3 numbers were on the medal card - Thank you Detective :-)
Yes, you have all found the same info as me - and that's the person I'm talking about. Its just frustrating that when Ancestry comes up with a record for him on the National Roll of the Great War and there's nothing relating to him on the page it shows :-(
I'm aware of the 'burnt records' for WW1 as I've had the same issues with my granddad and my Nans 3 brothers who were all in the army in WW1, though my cousins & I have managed to piece bits together :-/

I'm afraid Ancestry is notorious for false search results.
