Chris,The only information that I have on our Philip Perham is the following. On his Banns of Marriages in 1803 in Cullumpton his surname is Perriam, however on the Banns of Marriage Exeter, St Thomas the Apostle, and the Marriage Record his surname is down as Perham married to a Rebeccah Ellis. |

My reason for asking being,Philip had a daughter Mary Perham, (c) Abt 1811, Butterleigh Devon, and the only information that I had Philip Perham and Mary on a 1851 census.Being a senior citizen I apologize if I had confused you in helping me. |

No need to apologise I just needed you to clarify for me. I perhaps should have asked the question before posting the 1851 census. |

Have you considered the possibility that the Philip in the 1861 census is the Philip I found in 1851. |

Hi Again. Thank both you Chris and safc for your further information. I will now try to obtain the Death record for Rebecca Perham that died in 1823 Butterleigh, as I am sure that this was the first wife of Philip Perriam / Perham. From your information it may be possible that Philip married twice, and you are correct that it could be him on the 1851 census and again on the 1861 census. I will now undertake some further research, your information has been a great help, thank you again. Malcolm. |

Malcolm it may not be your Philip on either the 1851 or 1861 census. The death I found in 1848 may have been your Philip. |

Chris,On a visit to the Tiverton records office a few years ago the only Philip that I could find (B) or (C) in Cullumpton 1782/3 was a Philip Perrem, father as you have said Thomas Perrem. As regards to the marriage of Philip Perriam / Perham to Rebecca Ellis I have a record copy, unfortunately no name of his father on it but I am sure this is 100% correct. |
