Hi everyone,

I have subscriptions to two sites but only the for the UK, Kathleen Walsh 1890 - 1990 born in Durham emigrated to Canada when young, she married Franklin and they had James Franklin Dodd 1926 - 1934. They are all buried in Hamilton Cemetery, Ontario.

I cannot find Franklin in the UK, if anyone has access to 1921 Canadian Census or can find his birth would be grateful.

I have all the details of the Walsh family so would just like to trace Franklin Dodd, marriage, parents etc.

On James Franklin's death record it states father's birthplace as Ontario.

Thank you sounds promising, however the date is rather out is he on the 1921 Census and if so with his parents. I will now check the burial record for him which is on Find a Grave Com and see if I have written it down wrongly.

The birth record for Frank that I mentioned was attested to by his uncle Joseph J. Peacock stating that his parents were both dead. I can't make out the date on the attestation, looks like 1936.

An interesting thing on the birth registration of Franklin Joseph Dodd - although he was born 1878 his birth wasn't registered until 1936 and that was by his uncle Joseph J Peacock, his parents already being dead. How odd.

I have just pasted this from the records for Hamilton Cemetery although the name is the same there is quite a big difference between the birth date given by Margee and the date on the memorial I notice the son was born in Alberta so perhaps that he where the father was born.

just read your last messages so perhaps it could be the same person, is there a marriage detail it looks as if his birth was not registered until the death of his son.

His parents mightn't have registered the birth, but looks like they did have him baptised:

Thanks for your help, sorry to be thick I am not sure what they mean by Tribal Origin which in the 1916 is Irish and the 1911 English.

Have I summarised the information correctly as the Census in Canada seems to include more information than in the UK it seems James his first wife Sarah and second wife Mary were born in Canada however James father was from England and mother from Scotland.

They must have emigrated to Canada before 1852. Is there any way of finding out if Mary Dea had been married before and where James was on the 1921 census and his death, you have all been so helpful.
