Someone on Facebook has a letter from The War Office mentioning that the above person has been taken prisoner.
The letter was sent to a London address & dated July 1940.
She would like to give the letter to a descendant, unfortunatly there are lots of William Marshalls on this site born in that year.
Wish I could spend more time on this, maybe somone could.

Thanks for your help, the letter states that he was born 30th of Nov 1912 place unknown, It's a long shot but I thought maybe a descendant could be on this site.

I shall be glad if you will be good enough to say whether you recognised the name of the solider concerned, and if no, whether you can furnish his army number and unit.
