Thanks Brummijan,
I found the email funtion and contacted them.
It seems that the gedcom issue stems from a problem with my browsers.
I was using Safari on the Mac and Internet Expolorer on the windows PC.

It works using Google Chrome!

A gedcom is a way of condensing a family tree into a small file which can then be loaded onto other family tree programmes.
I want to upload it to GR

I emailed them quite recently so I am fairly sure you still can - the address is still in the 'contact us' bit.
Sorry, I am a tech numpty, and have no idea what 'export a gedcom' means!
:-D :-D

I dont know what's going on with Ancestry but I dont like their changes and how everything automatically defaults to a previous search.

I have also just discovered that there is no longer a facility to email them either!
Contact by phone only.

Have you tried to export a gedcom recently?
It doesn't work either.
It does export a gedcom into the dowloads folder but... it's empty?

GlasgowLass, I have noticed that too recently - glad it isn't just me, thought I was going mad! Very annoying isn't it.

Brummie... I tried that and the result was ZERO.
However, I was trying this whilst searching via the family members
I edited out all the last names and kept only the first names that I knew would be on the census.
I tried via each family member in turn and.. zilch.

Only when searching fresh ( using search) does this info come up.
Ancestry never used to be like this ...GRRR

Thanks

Just a tip - try searching with 1st names only, sometimes you get a result - my favourite find using this method is my Smith family, transcribed as Waitt!!
EDIT sorry, crossed posts there - yes, that's how I found them.

Thank you too Brummiejan.
I could not find that at all, even by leaving the surname blank??

Thank you so much Jacqueline.
Apologies re birth dates, I wasn't thinking straight.

I'm glad that I asked as this is definitely not on Ancestry.

Thankies

When asking for help, it's better to give birth years

Could someone please check FMP for a possible 1901 census.
The relevant census that I'm looking does not appear on Ancestry and I wonder if FMP has it.

It's probable that the household may not have been enumerated at all in 1901, but the family is present and correct at in their Barrhead home at 1911?
A child was born here at the begining of March 1901 ( census date 31Mar)

Name Lochhead/Lochead.
Should be found in Barrhead or Neilston, Renfrewshire, Scotland

Head Alexander age about 38yrs b Neilston
wife Barbara abt 28yrs b Aberdeen
child William abt 4yrs b Barrhead
child Andrew abt 1yr b Barrhead
New infant Vesta Barbara b Barrhead

Household should also contain older children from an earlier marriage of the head

Thankies
Anne
