Does seem as if he is one and the same. Will send for the certificate and will let you know what it says. Have just accessed a number of divorces on National Archives butnone of them match. Think that is a dead avenue. Thanks for all your help Choccy. Regards Wendy |

Sorry not to get back to you sooner Choccy but thanks for that. Having looked at everything you put I too think I had the right Alfred Adams in the first place. Have looked through lots of sites purporting to be free for divorce records but have either found its just a free trial or there is no relevant information. Am beginning to wonder ifAlfred and Cicely ever did divorce or if it was just something she told my mother. I do know that she never remarried. Have never sent for a death certificate so don't know what information they give to help you be certain you have the right person. Am reluctant to start sending for them as I am only assuming he died in London. It could have been anywhere in the world!!! |

Why do you think you may have the wrong Alfred Adams? Don't be confused by the baptism I posted. I'm almost certain the name of Alfred's mother is wrong. The address on the baptism entry is 4 Hazlehurst Road. On the 1901 census are Herbert Henry, MARY ANN, May, Herbert and William. |

Am very confused now as I thought I had found the right Alfred Adams---father Herbert Henry Adams1864-1952 and mother Mary Ann Putnam 1863 but now it seems as if I might have the wrong Herbert Henry and your first suggestion might be the correct one as on Alfred and Cicely's marriage certificate his father's occupation was house painter. Thank you Choccy. It looks as if I will have to research again as it appears I have been following the wrong Alfred Adams. Thanks also 'detective' for information re divorce research. Will get cracking on that too! |

More likely to be the 1901 as he was 20 when he married in 1922. He was 9 in the 1911 census which is why I thought it was 1902. Will look at both those deaths. Is there anywhere you can check divorce records? |

Have you managed to track down his birth? If you have a birth date, this can be used to look for a death, though only for those registered after 1969. |

Several months ago I requested help in finding my grandfather Alfred Adams. I am unable to find that thread so apologise in advance for partially repeating myself. My grandfather married Cicely Hedden in 1921 and they had 2 children Leslie and Marjorie. They divorced around 1930. Although through their marriage certificate I have now been able to go back several generations on both sides I seem unable to progress with what might have happened to Alfred Adams after they divorced. They both came from Tooting in London where they still lived as far as I know at the time of the divorce. I would like to find out if he married again and had any further children. Has anyone any suggestions please as to how I might progress. Thank you in advance. |
