The transcription is BURNRIDGE

The image is BURNIDGE

So the woman's name was BURNIDGE, or a soundalike thereof. A common enough name in the Kidderminster area, although you haven't yet said how you know she was born there

It is vital that you read - carefully - all info added.

Margee made the same elementary mistake - not reading carefully enough.

Re; Postans, yes I think your right when you say they are all from the same
origin, I have lots of old papers from Staffordshire with the variations
so I will have look through them for you............

Tom, I see that on your tree on Ancestry, you have John's death as being in 1857. Have you actually got that death cert because if he died then, he should be on the 1841 and 1851 censuses but I can't find him.

By the way, I do know how difficult the name is to research. One of my lines is Postans but I think Postans/Postins/Postons etc are all from the same origin. If you ever come across a John marrying an Eleanor in about 1757, please let me know!

I have looked at everything that you folks are discussing at present,
you ask Chris where I saw the age, it was from a tree on Ancestry
I also found the same transcription that Margee found and that's why
quoted it for you all to see. I will take on board what you have mentioned,
I am open to all suggestions are they most appreciated.

I'm not sure what you mean, Jacqueline? I looked at the original image on Ancestry and believe that they signed their names John Postins and Elizabeth Burnidge.

That's the transcription Tom has seen, which is NOT backed up when the IMAGE is viewed

You posted the image info yourself, Margee. Or did you make a typo in your earlier post?

Witness looks like James Burnage? or similar.

The original of that John Costine/Elizabeth Barridge marriage shows that the names are actually John Postins and Elizabeth Burnidge. They both sign their own names.

If you haven't found her baptism, how do you know where the woman was born?

Have you seen the original marriage entry at the Records Office? Or are you basing your info solely on the transcription on familysearch website?

I'm not sure the surname 'Burnridge' exists? If you have a parish record that lists this name, it may have mis-read or mistranscribed

Edit: Or the name could have changed over the years
