Feeling a bit thick after trying to find a relationship to someone on my own tree. Search works ok but I have no idea where the person 'sits' in my tree. :-(

If you put the name in, you must know how you got there

have you tried looking at an overview of your complete tree?

If you display the full view, the tree symbol contains a square.

You can drag the square around within the tree symbol and the display will follow it.

Do that until you get to a relation you recognise.

Thanks KenSE. I'll give that a try.

As for looking at the whole tree if there are quite a few on there it is easy to get lost. Tree was started some years ago too.

Thanks everyone
:-)

If you float the cursor over a rellie in yr tree there will be a small pop up with brother, sister etc. This used to go on to more ( or less ) useful stuff such as mother in law and great grand aunt but alas no more. It also used to be possible to get the relationship between any two people. Gone.

Ancestry goes to great lengths such as cousin of husband of great grand uncle 2xremoved and so on...

GR tree?
Go to the person.
Click the Ancestors view.
Go up (the screen!) until you get to a name/surname belonging to one of your own ancestors.
