Update on this.

My friend met her older brother and his family this weekend. They had a wonderful tearful and emotional reunion (after 60 years). She now has family pictures and all the history of why she was adopted.

A really positive and happy result.

That was such a kind gesture, Andrew. She must have been really thrilled.

Sorry that you didn't have that for yourself, it must be a difficult thing to accept.

That's a real shame Andy but well done to you for helping your friend find her family :-)

I've researched my birth mothers family for several years only to find that I am an only child and that my birth mother was an only child of only children as well. It means that I have absolutely no cousins or other close family. I have no pictures of any family.

I recently found out that an old friend of mine was also adopted. I got hold of her original birth cert and in less than 2 weeks have been able to build her family tree, find pictures of her birth mother and grandparents, find her older brother and put her in touch with a 2nd cousin who knows the family history. There are nearly 100 cousins around the world.

Some people have all the luck.
