In about 1822 Thomas Barratt of Tanworth 'absconded' to America followed by his wife and children in 1824. They changed their surname to Worrall. I know a great deal about these families (research not needed about the family history) but can anyone find out WHY they absconded and changed their name? What had Thomas Barratt done?? Descendants in America refer to them as 'horse thieves' |
