Can someone explain to this technophobe how I can nudge
yesterday's post to the top of the pile, so it may not be forgotten about too quickly,
please.
Regards, Jim

Just add any post to the thread even just the word nudge.

Just add a comment on the thread. That will bring it back to the fore.

Many Thanks Detective and Margee and now of course to Cynthia for your help and information.
When I have posted an appeal on here in the past I have then scrolled through all the posts after mine to find if there may have been any replies I now understand why GR never emailed me after the initial response because it went onto a thread.
I little knowledge is worth a lot.
If only I had more time. Thanks again, Jim

Unless you tick the watch this box on the top of the thread then you won't be informed if anyone adds to your thread

You have to keep an eye on any thread that you have posted on .

Folks who take up looking for enquiries usually pick up and run very quickly with responses and sometimes need further info so they can proceed so it's best to stay around for a while after posting for help

I remember some five years or so back there was an almighty furore going on amongst certain members over the ethics of nudging threads.

Apparently it was ok to nudge some threads but not others - I never did work out which.

Members even threatened to resign because nudging certain threads apparently caused them to be upset and agitated and others were publically flogged for allegedly nudging threads out of spite.

I suggest you bookmark http://www.genesreunited.co.uk/boards/participation and use this to access these boards.

It's a link to the "My threads" tool in the left margin, and shows every thread you've ever posted on, including your own threads.

If there's a fresh post in any of these threads, it's nudged to the top of your list and, if the thread has a post you've not seen, the folder icon next to that thread has a sheet of paper sticking out - very handy.
