For information only and for anyone researching this address.

In the 1950's this was a Salvation Army Hostel used as a mother and baby home. Babies born here were normally put up for adoption.

I have seen a scale of charges, and in 1954 the charge was 10 guineas (£10 10s or £10.50) for midwifery services and pain relief!

That seems rather expensive! Wouldn't that be the equivalent of a weeks wage?

Families trying to hush up an unwanted pregnancy would happily stump up the cost.
