I've found the microfische records held by some libraries to be extremely helpful; particularly with dates.
The only problem is that although the M stands for Married, B stands for Born, C stands for Christened, D stands for Died, I do not understand what S refers to.
Can anyone help please.

I really don't have any idea but a couple of possibilities:-

1. Stillbirth

2. Sealed to (if the records are from Latter Day Saints records).

Having just looked at some LSD fiche I have S is a miscellaneous symbol but can be used for sourced material.A is for an adult christening,

The entry reads

CHARLES MARTIN/MRS. HARRIETT MARTIN

M=MALE. F=FEMALE H=HUSBAND. W=WIFE: F

TYPE: S. (This is the problem entry)

Of the COUNTY of DERBY

When compliling the fiche in 1992 every chance was that LDS didnt have access to the parish registers and no known facts were known at that time.LSD were in its early stages of gaining access to PR and probally did a guess on other factors with the Martin family.hence the S.

I really want to get closure on my family tree so that I can have it printed for my kids.
I've been dealing mainly with GR and Chesterfield's Microfische Records.
Which other genealogy website, in your opinion, has been the most helpful.to you?

Many of us subscribe to Ancestry, primarily because GR didn't hold records when we first joined.

You should be able to access it for free at your local UK library.
From home, you could also try familysearch.org but if at all possible check the images on fiche. Many times there could be differences of opinion in the transcription plus the image may show additional information.

FreeBmd and Freereg are also useful sources.

There is no complete repository of records. We have to use several different sites.

I can't see Clara Martin on these Heanor Baptism transcripts, or any other children for a Charles and Harriet as baptised there..

My guess it is a submitted record, as rootgather suggests, based on Clara's age at marriage, and location of marriage as given on the marriage record; especially as it does not give an exact date, just a speculative year.

Census image gives the birthplace as heanor, maybe they just didn't bother with baptisms?
