Hi everyone, I haven't used this site for a long time so hope it still works the same as it used to.
I have seen a listing on Find My Past re a passenger and was wondering if anyone who has a subscription could see what other information is on the listing.
It is for a J Lavin travelling from New Zealand to Victoria Australia in 1867.
Thank you in anticipation.

There's also this, from Ancestry:

J Lavin
in the Victoria, Australia, Assisted and Unassisted Passenger Lists, 1839–1923
Name: J Lavin
Estimated Birth Year: abt 1840
Age: 27
Arrival Date: 24 Oct 1867
Arrival Port: Hobsons Bay, Australia
Departure Port: Hobsons Bay, Australia (No - port of embarkation is unreadable)
Ship: Otago
Nationality: English

Against the first person on the list, it says occupation "Miners", nationality English, destination Hobson's Bay.
I'm assuming that applies to everyone on the list, as the occupation is plural.
There's no nationality or destination for anyone else on the list, including J Lavin.

EDIT:
Well, maybe not - there are a couple of women on the list.

Thank you both so much. Are there any departure dates back to NZ in FMP by any chance?

ArgyllGran, thank you for the extra information re miner and English. That ties up with the family I am looking at. Maybe there is a group of miners travelling, is that what you were meaning?

Yes, that's what it looks like - although there are two women among them.
Female miners??

Mrs Thurston and Mrs Kay. As far as I can see, not the wives of any of the miners.

Looking at the next page of the record, again the first name has miners, English, Hobson's Bay against it, but none of the following names have anything - so I think that confirms that they were all in one group of miners.

Thank you again, what are the surnames of the females please?
I'm very grateful to you for your help.

Thank you, the names just came through. I will keep them and do some further research. Signing off now.

PS It isn't the J Lavin I was hoping for, but may be a relative.
