I have a relative in my tree who died about 10 years ago in Spain - anybody know where to search for details of death.

TIA Robert...

There doesn't seem to be any way of searching online, especially for such a recent death - at least as far as I can see from Googling, which you've presumably already done.

Maybe this would be worth a try? Not free, though.

There is no centralised system in Spain.
You need to know the town or city in which the death took place.
If you can find the right Town Hall to apply to, the certificates are free.

Thanks for your help - I will certainly check out these suggestions and if free BeverlyW that would be great.

Do you know the place of death?

You need to know the area, province and town/village.

He was an ex pat and I'm told it was

Villamartin near San Miguel - Costa Brava

Hi Robert
I live on the Costa Brava and I have never heard of this place. Are you sure it wasn't the Costa Blanca (down south, Alicante area)?

Robert

Robert Report 20 Jun 2015 14:27

Sorry Costa Blanca - the biggest town close by is I believe Torrevieja

It comes under the area of Orihuela.
Here is the address to write to:

Registro Civil
Plaza Santa Lucia s/n
03300 Orihuela
Alicante

I think you would find it too difficult to fill in the application online unless you speak Spanish.
It's a big tourist area so there will undoubtedly be people in the Town Hall who understand a letter in English.

Thanks BeverlyW - I will try this - my Spanish is pretty poor
