GEDCOM?

Gedcom files are text only files, they do not contain any photos. When you export a gedcom file from any family tree website the photos that may be on the website will not be in the exported gedcom file. Your tree on the website will not be affected in any way by exporting a gedcom file from the website

Thanks, so it's just a copy and won't affect my existing tree at all?

The info about losing photos etc refers to the importing, not the exporting

Sorry if I'm posting this in the wrong place, or if this has been answered over and over.... I have tree on this site and one of my Canadian relations has a tree on Ancestry, and wants to share info. I can view her tree as a guest, but she isn't a member of GR so she can't see mine. I could make a GEDCOM copy and post it on Ancestry .ca, but it says that photos etc will be lost.
QUESTION: does this mean I will lose the info from my tree on here? or just on the GEDCOM copy? And will it have any affect on my tree?
Thx Fiona :-S
