An aunt died aged 19 in 1919.

It's a 50/50 chance if the cause was Spanish Flu or TB. One of these days we'll buy the DC!

One of my grandfathers died early in 1919 of the flu. He had an normal burial in West London.

We knew he had died of the flu and the death certificate confirmed it.

I wouldn't think so. You need the death cert.

Welcome to the boards Malcolm.

From Google:-

From the Daily News:

Breathing in as much fresh air as possible and avoiding being in crowded places is the best precaution that can be taken against contracting influenza...be very careful not to expectorate on the pavement or in buses or railway carriages.

From The Undertaker's Journal:

Many dead in London are still without the prospect of burial, Hackney, Bethnal Green and Poplar being the districts in which the situation is most serious.

James Sturcke's research for the Guardian into the pandemic's effects in London is fascinating.

If you buy your relative's death certificate it would give you the cause of death.

My relative died in 1918, I believe from the flu epidemic. Is there any records from that period that would show this?

Thank you
