One of my free Ancestry accounts (at ancestry.ca from a previous free access offer) has got notice of this offer :-)

I don't think it will be particularly useful for people who have UK (or of course worldwide) subscriptions, since that sub offers outgoing passenger lists, but it may help someone ... I don't actually know what records are available at ancestry.ca

there is a lot of detail there that is not available with a UK subscription I guess, if you have stray collateral relations who may have wandered off to Canada :-)

(and possibly thence into the United States, as there are US border crossing records in the set too)

There is much more info on the Canadian passenger lists than what is on the UK Outward Bound lists. The Canadian lists have the name and address of the person that the immigrant is going to join whether relative or friend. Also the name and address of the nearest relative in the country that they have left.

Also the border crossing records usually have the date and name of the ship that the person arrived on even though it might have been many years before the border crossing.

It's true about the more info ... in the past I have found two stray family members arriving in Canada ... both naming nonexistent persons as the friends/family members they were 'destined to' (one, to 'brother', of which he had none, and the other, to a married woman 'friend' of whom I could find no trace and whose husband's given name - as in 'Mrs Jeremiah Smith' - was coincidentally the same as his own ...)

I must take a look at those records .................. I discovered recently that some of OH's rellies emigrated to Canada in the early years of last century.
