I have very little information, only what is on a marriage certifacate.I'm looking for any information on my aunt's husband William Francis Brennan,.At the time of their marrage he was living in London what looks like no 103 Waltinton Rd W.9. Looks like he was a carpenter.

Williams father was Joseph Brennan. The marriage took place in Paddington London in 1941. I don't think they were married for long,but never divorced as far as I am aware. My aunt died in 1973 we tried then to find william, even had the death reported in the papers hoping someone of williams family would get intouch.

I would like to find out some information on him. Not knowing where he was born is hard. I think it could be Irland ??

Any ideas what to do next would be most welcome thank you.

Brennan is a Irish surname

On marriage certificate his age was 25.
Joseph his father occupation was a general labourer.

English & Welsh DC won't give the name of parents

It would give his place of birth, if known to the informant
His maritial status and the name of his 'wife' + her maiden name (I think. Not sure when that started)
His 'usual' address, using which you can research historical ER to see who else lives there.
The qualification of the informant - often a relative - and their address

As you have a copy of the MC, have you followed through with the witnesses if they aren't from the Brides side of the family?

Thank you all for your help. Silly me I thought it was a birth certificate.
I was told my aunt never had a divorce but I don't know if this is true.??

Less than 0.2% of case files still exist after 1937. Even if they did divorce its unlikely you'll find a record.

I know the last name say's Brannan not Brennan the wrighting on the marriage certificate is very small, It might say Brannan ???

My Father was in the Royal Arti;;ery my aunt and my mother were both working in London at this time Aunt could have met im through my father. My aunt was working with my mother in London, so makes sense to me.

On the actual image on Findmypast the name is definitely Brennan - it is written in capitals so is easy to read.

Dis 2/11/49

10-5-46 is the date (10th May 1946) not sure about the rest but could be paragraph 39 or 390 of Kings Regulations 1940. Apparently para.390 is to do with reasons for discharge or transfer to another unit.

R.A. FLD is Royal Artillery (Field) then a date 24th Oct. 1946

NSRW is apparently National Service Reception Wing (taken from a post on another forum). or it could be Reserve Wing.

Dis 2/11/49 is the date he was discharged.
