The Josephine : Peter - daughter : father is a connection that I simply did not think of believing that Peter was an uncle but of course it is possible that Peter was actually the father and that there was another Peter within the close family Ian in-law) of some such. I think I shall take a little break now as my head is going round and round.

Suan....I have read about the availability of DWR to FMP and what I understand is you can actually look at the Admissions /Dicharge Books... but not being able to access the site (Non Subsciber) I cannot check this out or how you do it...maybe someone can advise on that...


If you check the National Archives 1901 Braithwaite Street you will find Byrne's living there no's 10.2 12.5 and the following at
21.2 in Braithwaite Street (Merchants Quay, Dublin)

Suan..I don't have access to FMP....
Have just had a look through 1911 Census and there is only 1 J Byrne (Only initials were used for these type of Returns) in the Cabragh Workhouse may or not be female...

Suan...Just put in Byrne J Dublin age 4.....and click on first name that shows (there are only 2 the other is for Childrens Hospital.

Don't know if there were other Byrne children but there are a few Byrne "Children " in Cabragh.

Hi Eringobragh, Yes I do have a name and date of admission with a workhouse number and other data. Admission date is 1906.

It depends on the time frame you are looking at..you could try searching the 1901/1911 Irish Census if it was pre 1901 alternatively the BMDs..
Do you have a name and date of admission/ discharge..?

Dublin Workhouses Admission & Discharge Registers 1840-1919

Does anyone know if it is possible to trace a person who has been discharged from one of these institutions in the Irish Republic. It is the first time I have come across one of these entries and I am a little stuck. Thanks,
