I have now found that Charles Theo Moon died from a self inflicted gunshot wound in Zimbabwi in 1931.
I am now seeking to find any information in South Africa about the following two of his cousins who I know were in South Africa by late 1881. They are- Fredererick Augustus Thompson, born circa 1855 John Henry Thompson born 1859, sons of William and Catherine Thompson. Thanks Frank

Thank you Shirley for that very extensive information, and so quickly! i had the UK census info but not the Boer War records or the baptism. Thats certainly a great help.
Thank you also Cynthia for your guidance as it quite a while since i used genesunited. Frank

I am seeking any information about Charles Theophilus Moon in South Africa after 1904. he was born in 1867 in London and went to SA in 1901 to join the police force, where he served until 1904. I have the records of that service. As far as I am aware, he did not return to UK. Frank
