Maureen Report 14 May 2016 23:02

Thank you all for your replies and help.

The census records iam trying to find a connection between the familes. Mary Gibson married George Whittaker the missing man, though from the prison records he may have well been in prison at the time, although that doesn't explain Mary and children missing in 1911.Looks like George was a rogue!

The second family Mary Egan married Benjamin Whittaker she was a widow by 1901.Marriage details have his father as Henry, cant locate marriage for Mary and George Whittaker.

Thanks again.

And everything becomes clear Rose. He made illicit whiskey like so many others in Ireland and Scotland (whisky) did.

The mind boggles Rose. I've a feeling Poteen features heavily in this but I've never heard a Still being called a Worm before. Must be an Irish word?

Sentenced to 7 days. He had a fresh scar over right eye. He was 5'5", fair hair, blue eyes, fresh complexion. He was a labourer and Roman Catholic.

He sounds a right character, more a scoundrel than a criminal.

...... we have several members on GR who are knowledgeable about searching for Irish ancestors, and hopefully the "Ireland" will alert them.

I am looking to find a family in 1911 Irish Census.

In 1901 family lived in Rathlee/EaskyWest/Co Sligo

Mary Whittaker 24 married
Jane Whittaker 2 daughter
George Gibson 10 brother.

I do know her husband was George Whittaker and in 1903 they had twins Rebecca and William.

William may be listed in Rathlee in 1911 living with his grandparents Gibson listed as nephew rather than grandchild.

I do know George and Mary lived until 1958 in Rathlea, dau Jane also lived to old age.

Also any help locating George in 1901 appreciated he was b 1877c

Thank you
