On a death certificate in 1872 the cause of death is SENCOCY (Certified).
The lady was 33 years old.
I have done a Google search, looked at Old Medical Terms but found nothing.
Has anyone any idea what this cause of death was ?

I wonder if it could be Syncopy ?

I think it's one of those that covered a multitude of sins when nothing more precise could be determined.

There a various websites that cover old fashioned medical terms if you google - but this word is still in use today!

Hi greyghost,

Thanks for looking for me, it could well be Syncopy.
The writing on the death certificate is legible, it could be a missed spelt, I suppose.
In 1872, people still seemed to write words as they thought they were spelt.
