hello all. im after alittle help for a friend. Shes trying to find her Aunty who was adopted not long after birth . My friend has tried to find her new name by filling out the correct form only to be told no new name has been filled for her.

We do have the full date of birth and her birth certificate but no details from when she was adopted after about a month after birth.

im now at a loss to what to do now, if its possible to go further with it all, any suggestions would be great

Thankyou in advance

Andy

Could you say which form she has filled out, and her aunt's year of birth?

Thanks

Might this be one of the contact sites either the adoption contact register (England & Wales) or Birthlink (Scotland)? They only work if the adoptee has also registered.
It's highly unlikely that you'd be told her new name unless she gives her permission.

If you can tell us which country she was adopted from, we might be able to give more specific advice.

Yeah it was the Adoption contact centre in England. The adoptee hadn't registered a new name, or gave permission for it to be reviled.

she was born on the 6th April 1964 . She was adoped from Bilsthorpe just outside Newark in Nottinghamshire.

Thankyou for any advice into what i should be looking into, im out of ideas really

Just checking - have you tried checking other members' trees & social media, or even just googling her birth name? If she is trying to find her birth family, she would use this.
Your friend could also ask if her contact details could be added to her aunt's adoption file, in case she ever requests it.

See if her original birth entry from the GRO index has been transcribed yet on FreeBMD. If it hasn't, keep checking as its an ongoing project.
if the Aunty or one of her current relatives decides to research her origins, that one of the places they'd look.

Once it's been transcribed leave a Post'em (message) giving a generic email address such as @gmail, @hotmail etc. to avoid spam in your usual email box

Say something like 'Birth family would welcome contact'. You could do the same sgainst entries relating to her sibling or, if given permission, the mutual parent. In those instances include '....from sister/daughter...' and add the birth name.
