Does anyone know how a pregnant lady would have got from Ireland to UK in 1937. I'm not sure which part of Ireland she would have been traveling from, so anything anyone can tell me will give me something to go on.
I know that she stayed in a guest house in Darfield if that helps. I'm wondering if there were specific routes back then?

Also does anyone know where I can find archived newspapers fro Muswell Hill, London N10 in 1937. I specifically looking for the article advertising my dad for adoption.

Thanks in advance
Lorraine

Probably boat from Dublin or Cork to Liverpool.

Have you tried the British Newspaper Archives on here? If you don't have a sub that covers it I can look at BNA on FMP if you like?

You could also try
http://www.communityarchives.org.uk/content/organisation/hornsey-historical-society

covers Muswell Hill area

Have you also looked to see if she was still here on the 1939 register?

Do you know if there would be records of passengers for boats from Dublin or Cork to Liverpool or am I being silly here?

Highly unlikely. They are just ferries, and I don't think it's even necessary to book if you want to take the chance of the boat being full.

Not being silly at all, but unfortunately it's unlikely. I'm not aware of any of the shipping lines keeping passenger records from Ireland to England.

In the early 1960s, the main routes were Larne(Belfast)-Stranrear, Dublin-Liverpool, Dublin-Holyhead and Dublin(or maybe it was Dun Laoghaire)-Fishguard.

There were no UK travel records kept for any nearby European ports. There were records kept for transatlantic ports, so this (almost inadvertently) would include passengers who left Southampton, say, on the Titanic, and disembarked at Queenstown.
