Peter Gerald Balchin was born 1929 he died 2016.
I want to find the record of his death so that I can obtain his death certificate.
His mother was Alice Francis Sorrell born in Wandsworth 1896. she married in Wandsworth 1915.

His death record won't be online

You would need to know where he died and apply to the local register office

Are you sure of his year of birth? I can't see a birth registered in that name in 1929 (unless he was not born in England or Wales).

Do you know where he lived? There are three Peter G. Balchin entries on the electoral registers on Findmypast. If you knew which one was him then you could try the register office nearest the address on there. (although I think only one of them would match his age)

If you are near one of the above you could go in, or try phoning Plymouth, the archivist there was very helpful and looked for me but hadn't at that time got the qtr I needed.

One person has the same birth year for Peter in their tree here, but I cannot see it on FMP or freebmd?

seeing no births for balchin and sorrel could they have adopted peter being they had been married almost 15ys when peter was born

Probably Kath & Shirley's suggestion of contacting the Reg Office closest to his death is the best option. If his Estate went to Probate, it's not yet on the Probate Calender. I'm not sure if it would have made it onto the central gro register yet. Didn't someone say there was a time lag of about 18 months?

Do you know where he was cremated or buried? The Counci's Parks & cemetery dept ( or equivalent) could give you edited details from the register, but will probably make a charge c£25-£30 to look it up.

How did you hear he died this year? Apart from he and his wife being on a few electoral rolls after they married, there's no sign of either of them.
