Birth Certificate has incorrect Surname 'Davies'

Sometimes they fudged the year of birth on the 1939 Register, especially if there's an age gap between husband and wife.

Glad you eventually found it. If you can identify the 'wrong' record in FreeBMD, will you added a Post'em? It might help other people in the future.

I had been looking for my Grandma's youngest sister's Birth or Baptism record for some years now, when someone suggested to me that this might be her. Violet Davies born in Bristol 1900. I have previously contacted Bristol Reg Office to see if they could find her birth, but 'No record found'.

Sure enough it was her after all! Correct address, parents correct but their surname recorded as Davies too, so not a genuine transcription erorr, just a BIG error. At least her mother's maiden name was correct!

To make matters worse, her DOB is incorrect on the 1939 Register - 11 Oct 1902. Correct address in her married name!
