Birth Certs for twins.

I recently ordered a cert for a birth and noticed after it arrived that it quoted the time of birth, which is unusual for an English birth. However I now find, thanks to the new ability on the GRO website to check MMN on pre 1911 records, that she was in fact a twin. The other record had its page number mistranscribed. (Thank you freeBMD) and so it wasn't clear it was a twin sibling.

My question is. Is it normal to have the birth times for twins like this? - the births were 1894.

Yes, the time of birth was recorded for multiple births in England & Wales. For inheritance reasons it was necessary to know which child was the oldest.

Thanks Potty. That clears that up!
