Hi,
I just received a marriage certificate for Maria Nancy Broad and William Constable, they married 1877. Finding the family of William was fine but Maria is baffling me. She was born 1855 in Marylebone, her father is listed as George Broad, I can't find her on the census' until she is married. Any help would be fantastic.
Thank you :-)

What was George Broad's occupation? Are the witnesses already known, or could they be Broad relatives?

The occupation I cannot make out, the writing is quite messy. The witnesses I am not sure of their connection.

31 July 1858 - Marylebone Mercury - London, London, England
MARYLEBONE. Affiliation. Anne Weller attended in support of a summons which she had obtained against George Broad, a veterinary surgeon, living in Brown-street, Marylebone, in regard to four children to which, while living with defendant, for many years, as his wife, she had given birth. Defendant neglected to attend in obedience to the process of the court, and after Baldwin, the officer, had been examined as to his having served the summons upon him, and evidence being given by complainant and other witnesses, an order was made on defendant to pay 10s. per week, being 2s. 6d. for each of the four children.

The 1858 newspaper report posted by Chris says Ann had been "living as his wife" - so presumably they weren't married.

George Broad died in 1856, the article above is from 1858? So was the case from a few years earlier and just published late? Or did this happen after he died?

Interesting, BradM!
George "neglected to attend court". I wonder if they didn't know he'd died?
But it seems unlikely that the summons would have been served two years earlier.
Are you sure the 1856 death is the right George?
EDIT:
How about this one? His YOB would match with that given for George in 1851 census:
Deaths Mar 1874 (>99%) BROAD George 55 Pancras 1b 93
