If I go onto Scottish people I can buy credits to look at a copy of family birth, death and marriage certificates ,we cannot do this for England and wales though on Genes reunited or Ancestry,do you know why and will this become available in the future .regards Sandra |

Scottish records are held by the NRS ( National Records of Scotland), a department of the Scottish government, and formerly known as the General Register Office for Scotland. |

Thank you ArgyllGran for the info,I wondered why it was different , it would have been great if we could do the same as Scotland to check on unsure marriages etc,and a lot cheaper to buy credits for a peep instead of buying the certificates as they work out expensive regards Sandra |

Sandra - the GRO handles completed official church marr registers differently from GROS. The GRO deposits these in some public archive, typically the local records office. Some of these are online with either Ancestry or FMP/GR - some are free via FS - some archives operate their own pay to view schemes - like SEAX (Essex). |

The GRO are now offering a PDF service where they send a link by email within 3 hours. But they charge £45 per item for the privilege. |
