Hello i have a john Richardson born about 1795 married elizabeth butterworth 9 march 1818 at manchester john died in 1847 age 52
What i now dont know is how to find johns mother and father as father was not on marriage certificate i have looked for birth but its a bit hard not having father name

this could be Elizabeth in 1851 census no husband so he could have died and if Thomas was he's father then there is a son called Thomas

i do have the census for john and elizabeth Richardson 1841 to 1861 not found elizabeth in 1871 but have found some if the children thank you
I will look at thomas Richardson and betty fells line see if they had a son john born in 1795
So with john Richardson marriage not having father name in it do i look up john birth birth 1795 but how do i know it is the right line if more than one john Richardson was born that year
I have not got this far back in any of my research so its all new to my

Who were the witnesses at 'your' John's wedding?

Maybe they can link to the correct family.

If you find a suspected father for John, look for a Will for that person in the hope that John or his offspring are mentioned.

Please could you confirm the census your have for John & Elizabeth and also Elizabeth's maiden name. The marriage ion 9 March 1818 was to an Elizabeth Butterworth and there is another John to Elizabeth in February of the same year.

the marriage at Manchester Cathedral on 9th March 1818 was between John Richardson basket maker and Elizabeth Butterworth
