which is why it might be a good idea to contact either the Local Archives and Study Centre that would cover Cheetham or the library.

Google to find that information, then email them.

Hi i have checked the paper that are on line and found nothing i don't know what date it happened only on her burrial certificate it says inquest so i have been looking at around that date

When I contacted the newspaper and then the Local Archives place re my gt grandfather, I already had his death certificate, and could tell them when the accident happened, when the inquest took place and the name of the Coroner, so asked them to search for about 2 weeks after each date. I figured that if it was going to make the paper, it would be sooner rather than later.

For Newspaper searching, name of Coroner can be useful also...(usually on Death Cert.)

It looks like you wouldn't be lucky in trying to trace her inquest, as Sylvia has explained.

Note it is cataloged under her birth year, not date of death, unless the name and area is a big coincidence!

One option MIGHT be to finhd a local newspaper report of the inquest ......

......... I found one for my gt grandfather who fell out of a train carriage around 1880, and another for an x gt aunt of OH who committed suicide (by drinking rat poison :-0 )

Look for the local paper for the area where she lived or died ............... FMP carries the Newspaper Archives, and you can access them on GR.

You can also go to Newspaper Archives, and look for free to get an initial idea of whether there was any write-up, then ask on here for someone to give you the information


Be warned though ........ the report might NOT be in the paper you think!!

I thought my gt grandfather's report would be in the Oldham Evening Chronicle, so contacted them, their archivist looked, couldn't find it.

I then contacted Oldham Local Archives ad Study (found it on line), and one of their volunteers found a report in another paper published for a short time in the late 1800s.

Morale .......... if you can't find a report in a local paper (or no-one else can find it for you), see if there is a Local Study and Archives Centre for Cheetham Hill or covering that area of Manchester.
