Unfortunately, Dave, the fact that there are no further replies from anyone means we haven't been able to find anything conclusive, either!

Have you any thoughts on roughly when (even to within 10 or 20 years) any of your Timperleys might have gone to USA?

So far, I can't find any records mentioning both Cheshire and Nebraska. There are some Timperleys who went from Cheshire to New York and Massachusetts area.

And there are lots in Nebraska ,including some from England, but no specific mention of Cheshire.

For example, there's this man (looks like the one in my previous post) - but from Manchester, not Cheshire:

John Timperley
in the U.S., Find A Grave Index, 1600s-Current
Name: John Timperley
Birth Date: 22 Mar 1821
Birth Place: Manchester, Metropolitan Borough of Manchester, Greater Manchester, England
Death Date: 23 Jan 1891
Death Place: Omaha, Douglas County, Nebraska, United States of America
Cemetery: Mount Hope Cemetery
Burial or Cremation Place: Omaha, Douglas County, Nebraska, United States of America
Has Bio?: Y
Spouse:
Mary Ann (Mitchell) Timperley (1827 - 1912)*

Children:
John Poole Timperley (1845 - 1926)*
George T. Timperley (1848 - 1864)*
Sarah Timperley Bolin (1851 - 1940)*
Mary Timperley Taylor (1853 - 1955)*
Thomas Poole Timperley (1856 - 1898)*
Jane Plant Timperley Tope (1858 - 1930)*
Alice Marion Timperley Wilt (1862 - 1930)*
Albert Timperley (1863 - 1933)*
Edward Abbott Timperley (1865 - 1952)*
Phoebe Emallen Timperley Mingus (1867 - 1949)*
Walter Willis Timperley (1869 - 1951)*
Clarence Lee Timperley (1871 - 1897)*
Frank Hoen Timperley (1874 - 1956)*

From findagrave:
John was born in Manchester, Lancashire, England. John immigrated to the United States around 1840 and settled in Nauvoo, Illinois. Here he met and married Mary Ann Mitchell on April 8, 1844. They moved to Salt Lake City, and later came back to Nebraska by wagon and purchased 160 acres north of Irvington, Nebraska. They lived on this farm the rest of their lives. He was the son of John and Sarah (Poole) Timperley. He had 5 brothers and sisters--Mary, Sarah, Alice, George and Mary. John and Mary Ann had 16 children--Elizabeth, Clarence Lee, Jane Plant, Frank Hoen, Albert, Alice Marion, Edward Abbott, George, Walter Willis, Phoebe, Mary, Sarah, William, John Poole, Thomas Poole and John. He is buried next to Mary Ann, and sons George and Thomas Poole in Mt. Hope. Nine other children are buried nearby, as are many grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Hi ArgyllGran, I've not done much research for a few years due to other commitments. To answer your questions. My family were farmers in Cheshire, notably Limetree Farm which was in Sale Cheshire; Great Grandfather Ezra Timperley born in 1834. Limetree school now occupies the site I believe. I cannot find any links that would get me into the USA, My tree radiates around Bowden Parish in Altrincham, Cheshire where many of the BDM'S are located. not much but I hope this is helpful.

As you've headed your thread "Emigration" I assume you're looking for emigration records for these Timperleys?

Where were your family in England?

A quick look at the US censuses does show a large number of Timperley households in Nebraska!
For example, this John was apparently born in England:

Hi, Peeps. I am almost certain that I have Timperley's in the USA. I have them placed in Massachusettes around 1650 but not under Timperley, they are the Sheldon branch, via marriage. There are Timperley's in Nebraska that had Farms within 1/2 mile of my family in England in the late 1800's, yet I cannot link them in. Where do I go from here? TIA.
